Neo是一個圖形數據庫（graph database）。它是一個可嵌入，基于磁盤的Java持久化引擎，其數據存儲采用圖形結構來代替表格。一張graph就是一種網狀的結構圖更適合于敏捷、快速開發。特性：能夠以直觀，面向圖形的方式展示數據，網狀結構圖由節點，關聯和屬性組成。Neo能夠在單一計算機上處理幾十億個節點，關聯和屬性。
一個強大的橫向移動框架能夠在節點空間中快速橫向移動。整個Neo大小還不到500k。擁有簡單、便利、面向對象的API。此外Neo包括一些數據庫固有的特性：ACID事務支持，數據持久化, 并行控制, 事務恢復等。
